Prof. Pak received her B.A. in Comparative Literature (magna cum laude, 1994) from Yale University and her Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania (2008) and has taught at the University of Pennsylvania and Franklin and Marshall College.

Prof. Pak came to Emory in 2008 and teaches Meaning in Human Language: Semantics and Pragmatics (LING 214), Linguistic Variation and Change (LING 340), and Foundations of Linguistics (LING 201). She is the Director of Structured Independent Language Study which is a new program at Emory designed for students who need to study less commonly taught languages that are not offered through the regular course curriculum. She is also an advisor to Linguistics majors.

Prof. Pak's research interests are in syntactic theory, phonological theory, syntax-phonology interface and word formation and word-level phonology.
